As of the first half of 2023, Virtus Leo continues to make significant strides. We have secured fourteen business legal contracts and have been entrusted with four criminal cases, one of which we are currently representing in the appellate instance to defend the bank's property interests. Additionally, we are currently handling seven cases in judicial courts and four cases in economic courts. Two cases are directed against the tax authority with the aim of challenging tax payments. Furthermore, we conducted a legal analysis of a non-governmental non-profit organization's activities under a separate contract. Currently, we have a total of one hundred ongoing cases, with over 60 cases already concluded in the courts. In the majority of cases, we also represent our clients' interests during the enforcement process of court decisions.
This year, we successfully concluded cases in the cash proceedings of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan, specifically in matters pertaining to the recovery initiated within criminal cases. We have been engaged in a class action against prominent enterprises, resulting in a total collection amounting to over 2 billion soums.
In a notable case, we successfully defended the interests of enterprises with foreign investments, where violations of customs legislation were alleged during the importation of vehicles into the Republic of Uzbekistan. The criminal case was ultimately resolved with an acquittal in the appellate instance, confirming the legitimacy of the benefits granted for the payment of customs duties exceeding 2 billion soums.
Furthermore, we achieved a successful outcome in an economic court case involving a small business being sued by a bank for the recovery of loan proceeds. The case was resolved through a settlement agreement, allowing for an eleven-month extension of the repayment period without any interest accrual.
In 2022-2023, we welcomed lawyers Farukh Ihtiyorov and Muhammadjon Akramov to our team, as well as tax and accounting consultant Kim Victoria.
In 2022, Virtus Leo was recognized by the reputable rating agency Legal500 as one of the top law firms for 2023. Additionally, the Chambers & Partners agency acknowledged our managing partner as one of Uzbekistan's esteemed lawyers in the field of general business law.
Throughout 2022, we secured contracts with fourteen major companies to handle their corporate affairs and provide legal services. We successfully defended the securities market against administrative management issues raised by the state regulatory body. Our lawyers achieved favorable outcomes in three out of four criminal cases, with two resulting in not-guilty verdicts in the initial trial and the appellate instance. In one case, the client was acquitted and released during the trial. During this year, we handled seven court cases and represented the interests of the French delegation in a dispute between the founders and heirs, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of our client's interests. Attorney Odinabonu Abdukah successfully managed a detention case initiated by the court administrator in relation to a company's insolvency. We concluded 14 agreements to handle cases in economic courts, with a success rate of 90% among them. Furthermore, we achieved a favorable outcome in a trademark infringement case, where we successfully defended the defendant and the plaintiff's $250,000 claim was dismissed.
An important aspect of our work in 2022 was our responsible approach towards clients' interests, which was evidenced by the insurance coverage amounting to USD 150,000. We take pride in the fact that we did not encounter any insurance claims throughout this period.
In January 2021, VIRTUS LEO law firm entered into a cooperation agreement with Andersen Global (USA).
Throughout 2021, we signed thirteen contracts to provide legal support for various companies. Among them are a transnational corporation operating in the high-tech and information security sector, a startup in the field of information technology, and two leading food production factories in the Uzbek market. We represented seven clients in administrative courts, resolving disputes with developers and public authorities, including a case against the ministry regarding a decision related to the securities market. Additionally, we were entrusted with handling charges of economic and tax crimes in criminal courts and during preliminary investigations for twenty clients. We concluded nine contracts for litigation involving property disputes in civil courts, as well as eleven contracts in economic courts. We also facilitated five contracts for transaction support, company formation, and legal analysis of businesses. Overall, in 2021, we entered into 65 agreements, leading to over 200 projects and cases being resolved in courts.
In 2020, our firm's lawyers achieved significant successes in the courtroom, securing two acquittals for our clients who were accused of economic crimes. These outcomes highlight our dedication to providing strong legal representation and defending our client's rights.

We explored the possibilities of collaboration between VIRTUS LEO and Andersen Global, which has a prominent presence across Europe and Africa, with offices in major cities and capitals.
VIRTUS LEO Law Firm celebrated its 10th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in our journey. During this year, we strengthened our position in the professional business environment and expanded our customer base to include private businesses and large government organizations.
As part of our commitment to legal reforms and the improvement of legislation in the Republic of Uzbekistan, VIRTUS LEO achieved notable success. We managed to obtain acquittals and terminate two large unjustified criminal cases in the field of economic activity, which had been ongoing for approximately four years. As a result, all participants involved were released and rehabilitated.

In December 2018, our Managing Partner Alisher K. Zainutdinov participated in the conference on law firm management organized by the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Arbitration Association in Moscow.

The number of lawyers at VIRTUS LEO increased to five, all of whom are graduates of leading law schools in Uzbekistan.
We signed a contract with the National Insurance Company "Uzbekinvest" to increase the insurance coverage of our lawyers' liability to 150,000 USD.
In November 2017, our Managing Partner Alisher K. Zainutdinov participated in professional development courses for lawyers under the International Commercial Arbitration and Construction Contracts FIDIC program in London, organized by Capital BE.

VIRTUS LEO changed its legal address and moved to the International Business Center in Tashkent. The office space of the company expanded from 65 sq.m. to 100 sq.m. The number of employees increased to three lawyers, two of whom are advocates. We also implemented hourly work registration and invested 10,000 USD in the development of the law firm.
From August 13, 2016, to September 3, 2016, our Managing Partner Alisher K. Zaynutdinov participated in a training program for defense lawyers in the US, organized by the US Department of State.
VIRTUS LEO was included in the list of LEGAL 500 for 2017 and recommended as the next generation law firm. We also signed a contract with the National Insurance Company "Uzbekinvest" to increase the insurance coverage of our lawyers' liability to 75,000 USD, which was 25,000 USD more than the previous year.
Lawyer Odinabonu O. Abdukakhorova was appointed as a partner in the Law firm after successfully completing a training course on intellectual property law organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Due to the quantitative growth of our regular customers, it became necessary to expand our organization both in terms of personnel and organization. To facilitate this growth and improve the quality of our legal assistance, we decided to reorganize VIRTUS LEO into a law firm and increase the number of lawyers.
On January 24, 2015, lawyers Alisher K. Zaynutdinov and Odinabonu O. Abdukakhorova established the VIRTUS LEO Law Firm by changing the legal form of VIRTUS LEO to a law firm. According to the decision of the collegium of the Tashkent Department of Justice No. 1/15 dated 27.01.2015, VIRTUS LEO was registered as a Law Firm.
VIRTUS LEO signed a contract with the National Insurance Company "Uzbekinvest" for professional liability insurance of lawyers in the amount of 50,000 USD.

VIRTUS LEO Law Firm was established by lawyer Alisher K. Zaynutdinov as a law firm where he practiced law independently. In that year, we entered into 18 contracts for the provision of legal assistance.
